Best Streaming Channels for Kids
What is the best streaming channel for kids?
What are the best streaming channels for kids? If you have children and have left or are thinking about leaving cable tv, you might be asking what can my kids what? What channel should I invest my money in to insure they are still able to watch their movies and tv shows. We will look at the 3 major options for kids.
I like Amazon the best for small children. They are always adding new programs, things like Yo Gabba Gabba, Blue’s Clues, SpongeBob, Sesame Street, Little Bill, and many many more. I think they do small kids programs much better than Netflix. If you have children under the age of 5 or 6, Amazon is the best. You should note too that on Amazon you can buy videos (many times for cheap) and add them to your library. Those videos will always better there. I bought my daughter Frozen on Amazon. In the past I’ve bought 100s of DVDs and I think they are all broken now. This copy will never be broken, and will always be avalable.
Netflix tends to be better for children who are a older. I would say they do very well for kids from 7-18. Netflix runs shows like Good Luck Charilie, Little Pet Shop, My Little Pony, H20 Just Add Water. They also have shows from Cartoon Network. This is rare for streaming video channels. Shows like Regular Show and Adventure Time (a couple of seasons) can be found on Netflix. I think Netflix is great for children who are a little older.
Netflix and Amazon will always run out of things to watch for kids. You could run the programs forever and never run out, but when a kid sees every thing there is to watch, they say, “I can’t find anything to watch.”
Hulu is always adding new shows. They have most of the Nickelodeon shows like Spongebob and from other networks Pokemon, Seaseme Street, Power Rangers, Barney, Strawberry Shortcake. The issue is they do not always have a lot of episodes. Sometimes the shows are updated from week to week, and on some shows you might have back seasons as well as 5 episodes from this season, but it is a mixed back. You never know until you start watching. Do a free month of Hulu first, see what you think. My kids don’t watch Hulu as much. I think they have such a mix of shows, that sometimes the quality just isn’t there. It’s the only place you will get the newest episodes (only sometimes).
SlingTv offers all of the child programming you can get from cable. These are channels like NickJR and Cartoon Network. SlingTV has a lot for kids, so it’s something you might want to look into, if you want to cut cable but you don’t want your kids to miss out on their programs SlingTV might be your best option. Playstation Vue is an alternative to Slingtv, and it costs a little bit more for the base price, but as you add more channels it may out price SlingTV.
